Contents page annalysis

i compared four different contents pages and disscussed how succesful they were.



Kerrang:
kerrang had quotes from a artist beneath the contents and a band member using this quote helps make the audience feel comftable.
It subverts stereotypes challenging the audiences perception.
Capital bold block letters so the titles stand out and link to the cover page of the magazine and it attracts the readers attention. Also the masculine images makes the reader feel comftable

NME:
Th main image highlights importance to the tribute article. It is also the same image on the front page.
The colour scheme and typography is consistant from the front cover and its very simple and not too vibrant.
Page numbers make it easy to find the correct article.
sub heading organize the magazine.
Band index with pages so the fans of a certain band can find that page easily.
Cluttered.
No photos of artists.
Synopsis give a brife description so the reader knows what the articles are about.7
A puff to make the magazine seem important.
Subscription advertisment so they earn more money and fans of the magazine have easy access to reciving the magazine.

Drummer:
main features, contents linked to the images ont he page.
effective use of typography connotes instruments andmusic. Main feature image dominates the page and links to the magazines genre.
everything is in lines so it is clear and organized.
its sophisticated.
subverts the stereotype of a rock magazine which widens the target audiences appeal.

Vibe:
Plain background.
lack of colour.
Draws importance to main articles.
subverts music magazine conventions.
the same image from the front cover is there so the artist is important.
vibe wants their fans to concentrate on the magazine as a whole.
the artists contrats with eachother.
