My Final Main Article Pages
My perliminary task
Evaluation
My media magazine uses conventions of typical k-pop magazines as the front cover is mainly centered around the main featured star with with a block colour in the background surrounded by the sell lines.

CQBmk~%24(KGrHqYH-D!Ergc2jfb4BLL6260nUQ~~_12.JPG)

Also using common Korean terms that k-pop fans would understand. e.g " Taeyang and his cordi Pippa"as one of the cover lines and in the main article " so oppa" and in Michael's response " me and Jessica noona ".Also the use of free items would attract my target audience as they were getting something for free when purchasing the magazine.
When constructing this product i have learnt the importance of photoshop when creating a magazine as it allows the maker to edit photos and easily crop pictures or certain elements of a photo and place them else where. It also allows the features of blurring certain sections or even feathering the edges of a object that has been cut out so it looks completely professional.
Once in audition i was able to manipulate my audio files and remove the sections that were not needed resulting in just having the information to help make my magazine successful. Also using sites such as edublogs and slideshare allowed me to upload my audio and slide shows of my graph results onto my blog.I have made a blog before however i did not know that these various online mediums could be used to upload various types of media onto a blog to make it more interesting to read through.

Also my contents page layout was inspired by the magazine Bromide as it had a clear and easy to read structure and it was well organized.

My magazine challenges the conventions of real music magazines as most magazines published are to do with mainstream music such as pop and R'n'B with popular artists from the USA or UK. Where as my magazine i used a niche genre that is quite unknown to the British public as k-pop has a niche audience in the UK. however this would make my magazine unique and stand out from the ones already n sell such as Kerrang or XXL.
Young people are represented in my magazine as being interested in all different types of music and Korean culture and also the fashion that the celebrities endorse in their photos. I have represented young people who are interested in k-pop stereotypically as i used Korean terms such as oppa in my main article which means older brother and many young people who are interested in this type of music pick up these simple words through listening to songs or watching the interviews with the celebrities. My magazine is aimed at teenage individualists as it demonstrates all different types of Korean music.
A audience profile for my target audience would be
50% male
50% female
Interests:
Korean culture
Korean music/drama/movie
Gaming
Gaming
Travelling
age: 14-24
top places to shop:
G-market
Yesasia
ebay.co.uk
Topshop/Topman
Spends most money on:
magazines
games
drinks
music
clothes.
Spends most of their time:
Listening to music
Youtube.com
Facebook.com
I think Bauer media would distribute my magazine as they don't sell a magazine of this genre. As it is a popular company who sell top magazines such as Q, FHM, Heat , Grazia selling my magazine would draw in K-pop fans from around the UK and it would gain them more money as most fans would subscribe to the UK magazine as it would be unique. This would give my magazine more marketing and advertising opportunities and would also make them a lot of money.
I have attracted by target audience by having the following
Also using common Korean terms that k-pop fans would understand. e.g " Taeyang and his cordi Pippa"as one of the cover lines and in the main article " so oppa" and in Michael's response " me and Jessica noona ".Also the use of free items would attract my target audience as they were getting something for free when purchasing the magazine.

It also allows the features of blurring certain sections or even feathering the edges of a object that has been cut out so it looks completely professional.
I have also learnt how you can use other media to do audience research for example i used a voice recorder and interviewed various people in my target audience and then uploaded the audio software into adobe audition.

Looking back at my preliminary task and comparing it to my finished project i have seen a improvement in understanding how to attract a audience with a front page and how to make everything clear and understandable instead of making it complicated.
i have learnt how important the layout of a magazine is as the is a important element for the reader as it has to clear , organised and not overloading the reader with too many things. Also using to many colours on the front page make it very busy looking like my preliminary task does however with my final product i limited the number of colours used making it more effective and eye catching.

Message from Ms Prince
Your blog has now been marked for research and planning. Any subsequent evidence of research and planning work will not count towards your final grade.
Final Touches
Jasmin, well done for meeting the deadline. You need to make a couple of minor adjustments to your magazine: 1) bring your from page main image to the front so that ir overlaps the masthead 2) you need to show connotations of Valentine's Day on your contents page e.g. hearts. Please do this by moderation day and email me to confirm you've done it. If you haven't got photoshop at home then come into the clc before 11am on the 19th.

photos i didnt use
Contents page annalysis
i compared four different contents pages and disscussed how succesful they were.
Kerrang:
kerrang had quotes from a artist beneath the contents and a band member using this quote helps make the audience feel comftable.
It subverts stereotypes challenging the audiences perception.
Capital bold block letters so the titles stand out and link to the cover page of the magazine and it attracts the readers attention. Also the masculine images makes the reader feel comftable
NME:
Th main image highlights importance to the tribute article. It is also the same image on the front page.
The colour scheme and typography is consistant from the front cover and its very simple and not too vibrant.
Page numbers make it easy to find the correct article.
sub heading organize the magazine.
Band index with pages so the fans of a certain band can find that page easily.
Cluttered.
No photos of artists.
Synopsis give a brife description so the reader knows what the articles are about.7
A puff to make the magazine seem important.
Subscription advertisment so they earn more money and fans of the magazine have easy access to reciving the magazine.
Drummer:
main features, contents linked to the images ont he page.
effective use of typography connotes instruments andmusic. Main feature image dominates the page and links to the magazines genre.
everything is in lines so it is clear and organized.
its sophisticated.
subverts the stereotype of a rock magazine which widens the target audiences appeal.
Vibe:
Plain background.
lack of colour.
Draws importance to main articles.
subverts music magazine conventions.
the same image from the front cover is there so the artist is important.
vibe wants their fans to concentrate on the magazine as a whole.
the artists contrats with eachother.

Front Cover developed
Today i developed my front cover further and added in all the sell lines and also the bar code and price tag. As soon as i get my pictures perfect of my main model i shall add it into the cover to create a final piece.
I'm also including two posters as a free item for the readers of the magazine. I had taken the images myself to promote two up comming artists in the magazine.

First Draft Of My Interview
i started to work on my main 2 page article which will be a interview with my main artist from the cover page.
Taking into consideration the resesarch i have done into K-Pop magazines i have wrote this interview.
JMSD is known for being the top rookie band in Asia
Having dominated the top billboard charts for a consecutive 15 weeks with their hit song JmJm. The members Jejjmin and Michael have also been venturing into different areas of work. Jejjmin starring in the hit drama Boys Over Flowers 2 as well as dating Park Jungmin of veteran band SS501. Now it’s time for the main man Michael to take the stage with his first solo project for Valentine’s Day called Monopoly.
Here is a brief Profile on Michael!
Name: Michael Chong
Nickname: Korean Lego
Date of Birth: 23/11/92
Age: 18 (U.K) 19 (Korea)
Blood type: O
Favourite Food: Choco Pies
Ideal Girl: SNSD’s Jessica
Loves: Lego and his fans
Michael is known for stealing fan girls hearts with his ageyo! But now he will show us a more sad and serious side to love; as soon as he walked into the room I was blinded by his good looks as he smiled sweetly bowing.
SM: Annyeonghaseyo Michael oppa it’s great to see you; how do you feel about JMSD becoming known as the top rookie group in Asia?
Michael: kamsamnida for inviting me it’s great to be here to communicate with our international fans; to be honest I was shocked when our company’s director Lee Mansoo called me and Jejjmin into the office and delivered the news. I never thought we would do as well as we have and we are both very thankful to all the fans who have given us unlimited support and love since our training days. Now we are determined to work harder and hope to gain love from many more people as we are a group who desire to satisfy the nation. He smiled
SM: Wow your devotion to music is amazing. So we have seen you recently on inkigayo have you got any other musical talents that you have been keeping form us?
Michael: KeKeKe I knew you would bring up this topic; as a matter of fact I do! Not only do I play the piano but I also enjoy playing the bass guitar. I think the music created from all different instruments is really unique and beautiful to hear. I really hope I can gain the ability to play more instruments.
SM: Seeing your new song is to do with Valentine’s Day what is your opinion on Jejjmin and Park Jungmin being an official couple.
Michael: Laughs To be honest I’m very happy for my fellow band mate. We have been close friends for ages and she’s always liked him even before she came to Korea. I wish them all the luck with their relationship and that I will always be there for her as we are JMSD.
SM: So oppa is there any special lady who might have inspired your song monopoly? We hear a lot of rumours about you and SNSD’s Jessica especially as she is the main in your new music video and she’s your ideal girl!
Michael: Blushes... Me and Jessica noona? He He we have always been close to each other but who knows eh I’m not going to say anything! He winked to us. It was an honour to have such a stunning and talented noon to work with me. Everyone always believes she is a ice princess but she’s sweet and quite dorky really.
SM: Ah we see... well then how about you explain to us monopoly and your new concept behind it as many fan girls have been expecting this.
Michael: well being a special because of Valentine’s Day approaching it is a ballad song with a soft and sad melody. Monopoly is the love a guy goes through when he thinks he has found his one true love. However she leaves him and his heart can’t erase the memories so she has monopolised his heart and everywhere he goes he is reminded of their love. Jejjmin and our cordi noona worked very hard chose the concept to very angelic to represent the innocence and naivety of love. It also will appeal to those who have also been hurt as well as the couples who shall be spending Valentine’s Day together.
SM: seeing as your working mainly in Asia at the moment do you not miss London? Even though you are a Korean citizen?
Michael: I spent my teenage years in London in which I made loads of friends who I do miss and I also met Jejjmin during that time. However I don’t miss London much as most of my family and friends are over here and I’m never alone because of our schedules but when I have the time I would like to visit again.
SM: It’s been great getting to know you a bit better today Michael and we hope we can have more interviews more often. As a last request could you please say something to your fans and the readers of Seoul music?
Michael: thank you for having me in on this interview it was really nice to see our music spreading throughout the world. To all my fans out there thank you so much for the support you show me and Jejjmin and we promise to make JMSD even bigger and better. To all the readers of Seoul Music I hope you continue your love of K-Pop and continue to support this amazing magazine.

Mast Head Design 1
i started to work on photoshop designing my mast head for my mast head. i took into my consideration the reasearch into korean music magazines with the typography being bubblely as a variety of k-pop magazines use this typography. I also decided to go with the colours of the South Korean flag which helps illustrates where the music originates from.

Starting the front page production
Today i started work on the front cover of my magazine. i decided to go with the name seoul music and i decided that the 'S' and 'M' in seoul music will have the colour red and blue against the white background to represent the colours of the korean flag linking back to the country of where my music originates from.

More Research
The XXL front cover has a main image of Lil Wayne and Baby; the mast head has a red background with the lettering in diamond as it is the 10th anniversary issue.
it has civer lines stating the exclusive interviews with some of the industries top artists such as Eminem.
the main coverline is blod and at the bottom of the page to make it eye catching.
The mast head connotes wealth as the lettering is incrusted with diamonds. this is a stereotypical convention for hip hop magazines. Wealth is also induced by the main image as both Baby and Lil Wayne have a variety of necklaces and a wide variety of tatoos.
The main image can be interpreted in many ways such as showing Lil Wayne and Baby are comrads and Protection of eachother as Baby's arm is around Lil Wayne; this can also be interpreted as homoerotic as both of these readings subvert the stereotype and this also opens up the audience for potential customers .
However them both being half naked could also symbolise their toughness and power which is stereotypical as hip hop is about power.
There is also Synergy in the image as Lil Wayne is wearing the " young money" necklace that symbolises his record lable. the magazine itself also contains two puffs which add to the status of the magazine as it is boasting it's greatness " 10th Anniversary"
In conclusion i think this cover is very appealing to a wide audience due to the main image it also subverts and confirms stereotypes in the hip hop genre;for example power and wealth. This appeals to the audience as it is what they expect from a hip hop magazine

Research and planning so far
So far i had done careful consideration into what genre i wnated to create a music magazine on and i chose a genre i have a strong passion for which is korean pop ( k-pop)
i purchased two magazine Bromide and Wawa Girl which are big magazines in korea for reporting on kpop. i studied both magazines and discovered that these are the key conventions
-Free posters and star stickers
- Bold Lettering
Korean Movie + Drama reviews included
-song lyrics
-puzzles and quizzes
-celebrity style pages
- interviews with a variety of artists
-audience pages for fan drawn pictures and comments
- double page interview for every artist with about 5 pics for a solo artist or more if its a group
- writing is spaced out underneath or next to pictures
-artist profiles
- bold titles on every page with bright colours
-competitions

I then started to think about planning and i have decided between two names which im still deciding on which is either seoul beats/music or Kpop jjang as jjang is a korean word for love but the pun on seoul links to the country of where all the music is produced.
In class we started doing a rough sketch of our front cover i had decided to do a valentines edition . i have uploaded a picture of my design below
